Clubs & Activities

This program recognizes student achievement and excellence in the areas of academics, citizenship, extra and co-curricular activities, and community service. 

Students may receive a total of five (5) points by the end of the 3rd marking period for community service. In order to receive five points, a student must accumulate 15 hours of community service. Signatures are required to verify your participation as well as a parent signature.
Community service is helpful work you do for members of your community or the community at large.

• You should NOT be paid for this work.
• You must do the work under the supervision of, or with the approval, an adult. That adult should sign your form when you finish.
• Work done with a scout troop, church group, or other organization may count.

EXAMPLES:

• Rake leaves for an elderly neighbor.
• Clean up a local park.
• Help at a local soup kitchen.
• Baby sit (unpaid) at your church so adults can attend a service or meeting.

MAKE CERTAIN your parents know what you are planning to do BEFORE you do it.
You may work on this goal all during the first three card marking periods.

Intramurals are a great way for kids to meet new friends, participate in an activity and earn GAP points. They include such programs as Volleyball, Scrapbooking, Intro to Hockey, Jewelry Making, Art, Skateboarding, Web Design, Photography, Yoga, etc. The cost varies and sessions run Fall, Winter and Spring.  Please refer to the current flyer for information on offerings and registration instructions.

The Dance team will bring opportunities for young dancers to continue training while supporting their fellow peers at various school events throughout the year and compete in two regional competitions. These dancers will practice one to two days per week while working on technique, school spirit, and choreography. This new program is looking for all dedicated dancers and in addition to the club fee, participants will need to purchase a uniform/costume, poms, shoes and pay for competition entry fees for a total of approximately $200. We are looking forward to an amazing year! 

Engaging all students in more than just gaming. Many roles and pathways are available on the Esports team. Students can work toward the roles of Strategists, Content Creators, Marketing, Organizer, or Gamer.

The Crusader Makerspace provides the tools and space for innovative thinking in a collaborative environment. Through hands-on learning, students will problem-solve, research, and think critically to “make.” The club is "learner driven, teacher facilitated", which means students can take the lead in a variety of learning concepts from 3D printing, coding, robotics, web design, DIY projects, graphic design, sewing/knitting, and more. Throughout the year, students will also have opportunities to connect maker ideas into service projects that will benefit the community!

8^th Grade Mentors:  The program is designed for our 8^th graders to act as leaders and supporters for our 6^th grade.  They plan and run the 6^th grade welcome, met with 6^th graders and discuss strategies on how to successfully manage Middle School.   The 8^th grade mentors also help with the community projects the 7^th grade mentors are doing.  To be in 8^th grade mentors you must fill out an application and get a teacher to complete the recommendation form in May.

The Crusader Nation News is a news broadcasting class that meets during homeroom every morning. It is open to 7th and 8th graders. Together we produce weekly news episodes that share information about upcoming events at Reuther, any special announcements, and special features like sports, jokes & trivia, and teacher interviews! You can view past episodes on our YouTube Channel. 

The News Crew is facilitated by Mrs. Lin. 

Student council is composed of a group of 6th, 7th and 8th graders who coordinate student events, organize special projects and sell spirit wear from the school store.  In order to join student council students must fill out an application, campaign and be voted on to the council.  Meetings take place during homeroom and afterschool.  Student council is the heartbeat of Reuther Middle School.

In the Robotics Club, students learn to think like engineers. Student design, build, and code robots to compete in an alliance format against other teams. Robots are built from a reusable platform, and can be coded using a variety of levels of Java-based programming. Reuther has two different robotics teams. The first Robotics team is just for 6th grade. The second team is for 7th & 8th graders. At this time, all spots on both teams are full. We will be looking for students to join our two teams at the beginning of next school year. 

The yearbook club is open to students in 6th-8th grade who are passionate about capturing the memories of the year. Students can work as photographers, editors, or designers to help create the yearbook. Applications to join yearbook open each Fall.
